About this specimen
Fully mature, potentially female specimen. We could tell it was mature due to the four trichobothria (long sensory hairs) on chela hand. We believe it is female because the genital opercula was present, but not as distinct, and there were not distinct sensory hairs present around the genitals, which would be a feature of a male. Therefore we believe this specimen to be female, but we are unsure, because properly sexing pseudoscorpions is a long process. We believe is belongs to the family Chthoniidae due to the present genital opercula, the paired trichobothria on the dorsal chelate hands, and the fact that there are more leg segments on legs 3 and 4 (6 segments) than legs 1 and 2 (5 segments). We believe it belongs to the genus Apochthonius due to the coxal spines on the ventral side of the specimen only being found on the first coxal segment, which is a key feature of this genus.
